After Sudan Protestor’s Death, Hundreds Hit the Streets

On Monday, in Sudan’s city of Omdurman, hundreds of people demonstrated and chanted that they want the regime to fall. Demonstrators hit the streets after the family members of a man stated the man who was shot during the anti-government protest last week succumbed to the injuries.
Sudan has been shaken by protests that have been taking place regularly for over a month. The protest which mainly kicked off due to deteriorating economic condition; however, it quickly turned into nationwide demonstrations with the increasing demand of an end to President Omar al-Bashir’s three-decade rule. Till date, the nationwide protests have left 26 people dead.
A doctors’ committee connected to the Sudanese Professionals Association (SPA) who is spearheading the nationwide protest affirmed the death of the 24-year old protester. The family of a 24-year-old trainee engineer Alfateh Omar al-Nemeir told reports the Alfateh had succumbed due to the bullet wound he sustained on his eye during his participation in the peaceful protests in the Burri area last Thursday.
During the Burri clashes, two other people died, which also includes a 60-year-old man. On Monday Sudan froze the details of the two journalists who have covered the anti-government protests. However, policeman denied the news about the death of a child.
