According to news sources, a representative from the Afghani Taliban has agreed to meet with the US officials to discuss measures to mitigate peace and put a stop to the 17-year-old war ongoing in Afghanistan.
The reports for this source came directly from the spokesperson of the event, which is to be held in the UAE. Other countries involved in the meeting will be members of the host country i.e. UAE, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia. These countries will take part in several meetings, with two meetings and talks dedicated to the Taliban representatives. These will be attended by Zalmay Khalilzad, the U.S. special peace envoy.
He along with the Taliban will conjure on pacts to diminish fighting and as current conflicts and the war in Afghanistan has intensified. The Taliban harbor ill sentiments towards international forces on Afghanistan soil, but they have claimed that on certain topics they are willing to negotiate.
Among the topics to be addressed are constitutional changes, women rights, and ways to maintain mutual recognition with the government of Kabul.
The result of this peace talk is much anticipated as only if this goes calmly, a certain amount of peace can come back to Afghanistan soil.
