TORONTO – The Toronto Raptors announced Thursday that they have re-signed Canadian centre Chris Boucher to a multi-year contract.

The move was first reported just after NBA free agency opened on June 30.

Terms were not provided by the club, but the deal is reportedly worth US$35.25 million over three years.

Boucher averaged 9.4 points and 6.2 rebounds per game last season, and 11.2 points and 5.8 rebounds in six playoff games against the Philadelphia 76ers.

The centre from Montreal originally signed with the Raptors before the 2018-19 season after playing one game with the Golden State Warriors the previous year.

The Canadian spent most of his time with Raptors 905 that first year with Toronto and was named both the G League’s MVP and top defensive player.

Three years later, he re-signed with the Raptors on a two-year deal worth $13.5 million — the richest contract in NBA history by an undrafted Canadian player at the time.

“Chris epitomizes hard work and perseverance,” Raptors general manager Bobby Webster said in a statement. “He has shown us that he values being a member of this team through his commitment to continual improvement, and finding ways to impact winning on the court.

“Even after his successes last season, he has told us he’s not satisfied — and that mindset is why we’re excited to welcome him back to Toronto.”
