Bahrain-Qatar ties to return to what they were before 2017: Minister

Dubai: Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Dr Abdul Latif Al Zayani has announced that the Kingdom’s relations with Qatar will be reverted to what they were before June 5, 2017, Al Watan Newspaper reported on Friday.

In an interview with the media, the minister said that AlUla Declaration – signed at the 41st GCC Summit – will be implemented within a week of its signing; all legal claims initiated against Qatar will be dropped.

He revealed that the involved parties would end the security and political issues through bilateral talks within two weeks, adding that two follow-up committees and another legal committee will be formed to implement what is agreed upon.

The foreign minister said that the final communique of the summit was signed for the first time by the leaders of countries, something which makes it a special document. He said that each country will discuss its files through a bilateral talks, in order to resume relations to what they were before 2017 while ensuring that what happened will not be repeated.
